There are hidden gems everywhere in the various small island towns throughout the Beaufort County area. Best of all, many of the places are within 20 minutes from The Hideaway. From exploring the Hunting Island State Park lighthouse and beach, to horse carriage tours around historic downtown Beaufort, to watching a movie at the Hwy 21 Drive-In Theater, there is something for everyone.

On and around the island, you’ll find several small, family-owned cafes and seaside restaurants serving delicious local foods and fresh seafood. Lowcountry cuisine typically consists of southern comfort foods including soup, gumbo, stews, grits, and seafood boils among others. You’ll also find other great foods like BBQ, wood fire pizza, and delicious burgers down the road!
Outdoor Activities
Being on an island, there is much to explore between kayaking, biking, fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding and much more. The area has plenty to do if you enjoy the great outdoors. There are also a few beautiful beaches all within a 15-20 minute driving distance if you want to kick back and relax!
